OTTAWA, September 15, 2025 — Today, Carbon Removal Canada has announced the launch of the Carbon Console, Canada’s first comprehensive dashboard providing real-time visibility into the country’s rapidly expanding carbon removal sector.
The groundbreaking platform has already revealed remarkable insights about the industry’s scale, tracking over 11 megatonnes of carbon removal capacity amongst planned and announced projects. These projects, if they proceed, are equivalent to removing the emissions of over 3 million cars or 30% of all cars on the road.
“The Carbon Console represents more than just a dashboard; it’s proof that Canada is quietly becoming a global leader in carbon removal. With over 11 megatonnes of projects planned or announced, we’re not just talking about climate action, we’re building it. But we can’t get complacent, we need government policies that will take these projects from planned to operational as soon as possible.”
– Na’im Merchant, Executive Director, Carbon Removal Canada
“RBC is proud to support Carbon Removal Canada and their newly launched Carbon Console dashboard. The platform provides real-time data on Canada’s growing carbon removal sector and will help policymakers, investors and suppliers make informed decisions about the transition to a net-zero economy.”
– Thea Silver, Senior Director, Environmental Impact, RBC.
The Carbon Console transforms how Canada’s carbon removal sector operates by centralizing critical market intelligence that was previously scattered or inaccessible. The platform tracks active companies, removal capacity, and provides detailed policy landscapes that help developers identify deployment opportunities across Canada’s diverse regulatory environment. For the first time, policymakers can access comprehensive sector data to craft evidence-based climate policies.
“The importance of the information that the dashboard makes available shouldn’t be underestimated,” added Merchant. “Each of those carbon removal projects represents jobs, supply chains, and industrial demand that come at a critical time for Canada’s economy. Our research suggests that an at-scale sector in 2050 could create 89,000 jobs and add over $140B to Canada’s GDP.”
The platform launches at a critical time as carbon removal technologies gain recognition as an essential tool to meet global climate targets. By centralizing and transparently representing the Canadian carbon removal sector, the Carbon Console aims to accelerate industry growth and enhance Canada’s leadership position in carbon removal technologies.
